The National Innovation Fund (NIF) is taking part in CONNEXUS 2026 – the Black Sea Technology Forum, held in Varna from 5 to 7 October. Organised by ICT Cluster – Varna, the event brings together business leaders, technology companies, researchers, educators, and public-sector representatives to exchange expertise, explore new opportunities, and build partnerships in technology and innovation.

Official Opening

The event is held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliana Yotova, who also takes part in the official opening together with Ivan Vasilev, Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation, and Ilian Dimitrov, Minister of Tourism. Welcome remarks are also delivered by representatives of Varna Municipality, the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, and ICT Cluster – Varna.

The National Innovation Fund at CONNEXUS 2026

During the event, the National Innovation Fund presents opportunities for supporting research and development projects and for strengthening cooperation between businesses and research organisations. The Fund’s presence at the forum creates a valuable opportunity for direct dialogue with companies, researchers, and the technology community on the development and implementation of innovative projects.

Funding Opportunities through the National Innovation Fund

On 6 October, Anton Todorov, Chair of the Executive Council of the National Innovation Fund, will take part as a speaker and present the funding mechanisms available through the Fund, as well as the opportunities for companies developing and introducing new technologies, products, and services.

The National Innovation Fund is also represented at the forum by Secretary General Iveta Filipova and members of the Fund’s team, who are taking part in meetings with businesses, research organisations, and representatives of the technology community.

Focus on New Technologies and Partnerships

The CONNEXUS 2026 programme features discussions and presentations on topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, marine technologies, and biotechnology. The forum also includes an exhibition area and international business networking activities focused on the practical application of technologies, knowledge sharing, and the creation of new partnerships.

Young Talent

Students from the Vocational High School of Computer Modelling and Computer Systems “Acad. Blagovest Sendov” – Varna are also taking part in the exhibition area. They are showcasing robotics projects, including robotic arms, a humanoid robot, and mobile platforms. Their participation highlights the importance of hands-on learning and the development of technology skills, while giving them the opportunity to present their work to business representatives and the wider professional community.
